Solution Designer / LinguistThe Australian Government Mar 2018 - Jul 2019Within the ICT arm of my agency I worked to extend our services to customers who speak a language other than English, to lessen the high demand on our translators and interpreters and make information equally accessible regardless of cultural background.Also assisted with the development of Virtual Assistants (VAs, chatbots, digital assistants) to handle queries relating to social welfare, and divert traffic away from our extremely busy phone lines. I had 2 main activities:• Conversational Analysis and data querying using Python and SQL in Azure Databricks to examine how customers are responding to the chatbots. Using text summarization, sentence matching, LDA topic analysis and other techniques, I identified areas of improvement for the chatbots and liaised with business areas to deliver a more helpful service to customers.• A central solution for managing bot content. The 'Bottal' application would be used by business teams developing content for students, job seekers, pensioners and other social groups. As Scrum Master and co- Product Manager for this application, I drove the technical build by coordinating tasks across a range of staff and making design decisions for the overall product. -
