My internship as a programmatic coordinator at the SJPJC has given me a unique opportunity to engage directly with the community by facilitating community discussions, creating and executing programming, and collaborating with other grassroots organizations to address the needs of vulnerable populations. One of the projects I spearheaded that I'm most proud of is my wellness series, for which I applied for and received grant funding. I developed a proposal and received approval for funding from the County of Santa Clara's Division of Equity and Social Justice (DESJ) to create a community healing series centered around mental health and collective healing. The series provided much-needed human connection during COVID and helped strengthen our ties with community members and other local grassroots organizations.Key Responsibilities & Accomplishments: - Provided reporting and wrote proposals to the Board to discuss budgets and plan for ongoing expenses. This resulted in gaining approval to create a wellness series for the community and for other grassroots movements to use the space for events. - Researched and developed grant proposals, securing a $1500 grant for the organization.- Managed communication between grassroots organizations to supply materials and meeting spaces for them drafted meeting agendas and executed follow-ups for team conferences and meetings.- Developed and updated the website with blog posts, social media accounts, monthly newsletters, and events highlighting community events. - Collaborated with community leaders, grassroots organizations, and public agencies to promote training, seminars, and events happening in the local community.- Fundraised and spearheaded a local wellness event that consisted of group healing circles centered on mental health and well-being. This resulted in raising over $1500 for the community for future events.
