Promoted from Intern to Coordinator in October 2007 – reported directly to the Event Director• Developed and supervised the Volunteer Program (Detroit Grand Prix Association) for the 2007 and 2008 Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, a 501-c3 non-profit organization.• Managed recruitment, communications, scheduling, training, morale and over-all satisfaction of 1000+ volunteers, aged 16-93, from across the US and Canada.• Managed development of comprehensive software application for volunteer recruitment and registration.• Coordinated development, design and production of marketing materials for volunteer recruitment.• Wrote, designed and managed distribution of a volunteer newsletter to 1000+ volunteers.• Insured coordination, efficiency and satisfaction between event volunteers, vendors, event suppliers, sponsors, dignitaries, race teams, event guests, and event staff during three-day international event.• Event planning experience includes, budget management, venue and entertainment procurement, catering and beverage service coordination, creation and distribution of invitations and communications, volunteer orientations, training sessions, kick-off parties, volunteer appreciation events, and holiday parties.• Coordinated volunteer staffing and training for promotional events including the North American International Auto Show, Grand Rapids Auto Show, Autorama, Detroit Winterfest, etc.• Developed public speaking, organizational, budget management, and conflict resolution skills in a fast-paced, high-pressure, deadline driven environment.
