I probably would have been a ropes course instructor had I not found a career in program management and technology leadership. There are many similarities: motivating others to achieve goals and build trust among teammates, solving complex puzzles, and occasionally holding the rope while people try to climb things. As it turns out I get to do 90% of that in my career as a PM, and I get to work with teams to build and deliver technology and services that improve the lives of many more people. My deep sense of empathy drives my approach at work. I am constantly putting myself in the shoes of my customers, my users, and my teammates. Much like technology development, I love that there are no perfect formulas for building teams or delivering solutions, and that constant puzzle is why I love what I do. I thrive in the space between strategy and execution, and love breaking down strategic visions into meaningful, measurable, and achievable goals.
