During my time at FirstEnergy Corp, I set a personal goal to gain experience working on the technical and business sides of the company. I was allowed to do both while working with a team of both FirstEnergy employees and Sogeti to work on a test automation project.The project was focused on configuring an application used by all FirstEnergy utilities and converting it into a web-based application. I was tasked with self-study in learning about test automation, the tools we used on the project, and FirstEnergy’s big picture of the use of the project.I became familiar with Cucumber, a test automation suite, along with Ruby and Gherkin test automation languages used in the tests. I was faced with many challenges in a fast-paced environment that an agile project has, but I was able to learn and grow from mistakes made. I was also able to implement innovative templates used to cross-train members on the team that helped increase the work produced. This led me to become a team leader and guide the team into an approach they hadn’t used before. The templates made have since been carried on past my internship and will continuously be improved upon as a living document.

As a student who has studied abroad here at Ohio University I am extremely passionate about the work that I do for the office and for the students who come to the office to study away during their time here. While working at the office, I helped create and improve upon a Salesforce tracker that we use to monitor weekly activities of advisors and peer advisors after they meet with students who come in. I carry out weekly audits and see what tasks have been completed and what still need to be done. This is enforced to make sure they have tasks completed in a specific time frame ensuring no student is forgotten about and to meet deadlines.At the end of my time in the office, I consolidated all Salesforce trackers to summarize performances done in the office. This was used to identify what tasks needed improvement moving into the next year, what staff exceeded exceptions for recognition, and to visualize all the students who came into the office for the year.

Worked with monthly budgets and projections for Ohio University. My duties consisted of inputting data and information from monthly bills, budgets, and other varieties of data from the university into reports to be analyzed further. Along with inputting data and information I was also tasked with finding errors and correcting issues within reports to make sure data balanced out at the end of each month, and to make sure reports were up-to-data and corrected at months end.
