Uw Choice Institute Fellow - Hta Value & Evidence
CurrentAs an HEOR Fellow, I leverage real-world evidence, economic modeling, and evidence synthesis to support the successful launch of new pharmaceutical products. My role involves a combination of data analysis, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure that our products demonstrate clear value to healthcare providers, payers, and patients.
Acting Assistant Professor - Diabetes Institute
I directed a portfolio of five neuroendocrinology and neurometabolic research projects focusing on tool development and functional neural circuit mapping linking thermoregulatory control to glucose or energy homeostasis. My research program focused on functional neural circuit mapping and combinatorial neuroscience tool development. Managed a group of research scientists, four undergraduates, and collaborators (US and international) to drive all phases of research projects.Lead team to collect data related to neural signal (2-photon and photometry) and behavioral (video, image), and microscopy image analyses. Developed, in partnership with excellent collaborators, an analytical pipeline to analyze processed two-photon imaging data in Python, allowing for the characterization of individual neurons based on cross-correlogram and clustering analysis for predictive modeling.Secured $2M+ in grant funding from NIH (NIDA, NIMH, and NIDDK), American Diabetes Association, the Murdoch Foundation and Dick & Julia McAbee Foundations by showcasing impactful pilot data and providing supporting documents to demonstrate feasibility and impact.Published 18 research articles, including ten first-author papers, in peer-reviewed journals that demonstrate a link between appetite and blood glucose with body temperature control.
Acting Instructor
Post-Doctoral Fellow - Department Of Medicine
• Collected data and combined two-photon with continuous glucose measures to answer nuanced and challenging neuroscience questions, including functional neural circuit mapping linking thermoregulatory control to glucose and energy homeostasis.• Generated, wrangled, and synthesized time series, signal, and image data sets of 50+ data frames for hypothesis testing.• Created and led a neuroscience and metabolism-focused journal club, a data science discussion group, and a Post-PhD Women’s group to discuss scientific articles and learn Git, GitHub, and Python coding related to neuroscience-specific analysis.
Tech Transfer Fellow
• Produced 32 technology evaluations and marketing summaries of intellectual property ranging from medical and biochemistry-based tech to medical devices and computer algorithms; performed competitive analysis.
Graduate Student - Department Of Pharmacology
• Served as a graduate school representative for a year and was a member of the admissions committee while completing PhD.• Developed a four-week-long NRSA grant writing workshop (2014-2017) for graduate students and postdocs.
Research Scientist - Dept Of Pathology, Institute For Stem Cell And Regenerative Medicine
• Managed all administrative paperwork related to in-vivo experimentation (IACUC, BUA, EHS, and radiation safety).• Analyzed data related to echocardiography, Millar technique, and muscle mechanics.
Research Scientist, Dept Of Anesthesiology
• Moved lab from VA to main campus and established a new highly functional workspace. • Ran a multi-PI laboratory and performed administrative and scientific efforts related to in vivo experimentation.• Developed a method for calculating optic nerve oxygen consumption to determine how hypovolemia, hypotension, and anemia during surgery could lead to optic nerve neuropathy.• Used intravital microscopy in isolated rodent lung models to study dynamics of red blood cells containing nitrosylated hemoglobin in normal and injured cerebral and pulmonary microvasculature, leading to several co-authored papers.
