About Jennekin Dicks
Past architect turned devotee to:° Igniting networked engagement and collaboration.° Helping organisations meet ESG responsibilities as an embedded operational reality. ° Designing connective business management systems people love to work in and help evolve.I'm a strategic, people-focused system and process innovator and on-the-ground supporter to businesses. Previously as a consultant, currently as a principal advisor in the Strategy & Planning team within the QBCC. My passion is to strategise, lead and support in the detail that is needed for work to work well, in a way that meets necessary business targets, is productive and meaningful, and properly responds to the individual, social and environmental needs of today and tomorrow. Doing all of this within necessary and complex frameworks, such as management system standards, regulatory requirements or future focused protocols, has been a constant and detailed feature of my work. In addition to my consultancy, coordination and training work over the years, and my current position within the QBCC, The Habitat Club is my evolving public contribution to the ongoing organisational change conversation:https://www.miaction.com.au/the-habitat-club.htmlMy aim is to support a healthier way of working within and between organisations, that properly serves people and planet. A SHORT HISTORY:I moved from architecture to management systems consultancy in 2009, because I had noticed a disconnect between 'how things worked' and what was preferred and aimed for.I saw smart, talented people create reduced efficiency, lowered profitability, increased cultural complexity, slowed evolution, pain in compliance and worst of all, limitations in the positive personal, social and environmental impacts they were aiming for. It made leadership more difficult (at all levels), and often made it impossible for the whole of the group to engage, innovate and thrive together. I then worked hard to understand the problems and solutions at a deeper level, while developing skills to help in practical ways - including embedding sense and connection in strategic and operational systems, and engaging people in the journey. I've looked deeply into what motivates people in systems, and I know how to help activate or improve a dynamic that enables sustainable change. And so I enjoy helping to shape organisations for tomorrow, from the inside out.CONSULTANCY: www.miaction.com.auSAFETY IN DESIGN CAMPAIGN: www.siaction.com.auBOARD MEMBER: www.iseecare.com.au

Senior Advisor: Strategy And Planning
Current
Owner & Consultant
CurrentI care about the impact good internal system and process design has on the future of a business and its people. I care about how this increases a business’ capacity to do more, including positive impact on itself, its people and beyond. With a background as an architect, I have built my business on helping particularly construction industry design practices solve the problems that generally affect risk, profitability and impact, and thereby slow down businesses and careers.Every business has its own unique combination of ecosystem parts which it uses to organise itself internally. You can call it habits, systems, processes or whatever you like, if it represents the typical actions people will take, those are the mechanisms which will largely define the level and type of success the business and its people will experience. The fun bit (for me at least) is to consider how we can craft our organisational ecosystems to support excellent business, people and environmental outcomes.I believe this is the key to innovation and therefore one of the keys to the positive change we want to see in our world.
Director/Board Member
CurrentHonoured to be an appointed member of the Board of Directors for iSEE CARE.www.iseecare.com.au - "iSEE CARE recognises a global responsibility to serve the younger generation, to help families in need and to support the school communities raising our world’s future movers & shakers. iSEE CARE has learnt over the years that when times are tough or even just when life is busy, it can sometimes feel overwhelming to find help – so that’s why we specialise in coming straight to the point of need."
Author And Sharer

Process Innovator And Trainer
CurrentA Safety in Design campaign (with a process solution and training workshops) for professional designers in the construction industry, across Australia and New Zealand. The aim of the campaign is to improve understanding in the industry of what sits inside and outside the boundary of the professional designers duty under the relevant WHS legislation component, as well as what a truly compliant yet meaningful process can look like. These insights then create the opportunity for better collaboration and coordination with other consultants, clients, contractors and various stakeholders, in managing safety outcomes across the lifecycle of the project.Already widely used on hundreds of projects, this solution has a proven track record of being clear, supportive and scaleable to the size and complexity of any one project.
