I am passionate about the outdoors and committed to environmental conservation and restoration. I believe that education, information, and technology are critical in the effort to fight climate change and adapt to future conditions. After completing a B.Sc. in Environmental Studies in 2005 and an advanced diploma in Remote Sensing in 2007 I began work with a habitat restoration and environmental research firm in Halifax, Nova Scotia (CBWES Inc.). As my responsibilities with the firm have increased, I have gained valuable experience in GIS analysis, field methodologies and project management. Working with an interdisciplinary team at I have been privileged to contribute to the restoration of several hundred hectares of coastal wetlands over the past 8 years. In 2012, with the support of CBWES Inc. and NSERC I was able to pursue further education, earning my M.Sc. in Applied Science. I have also co-authored scientific and technical papers, presented research at scientific conferences, and helped to supervise and guide students involved in projects at various sites.
