This was a 3-rotation co-op position that accumulated to a year of technical experience. Through this position I gained multiple skill-sets, including but not limited to Linux, version control (Git), coding in Python, coding in C, and writing technical documents. See below for specific information pertaining to each rotation.First rotation: During this rotation, I continued the development of a tracking system. I ran numerous tests of the system and wrote technical documents to highlight the results. I taught myself the coding language of Ruby so I could understand the software of the system, as well as add to it as needed. This project also gave me experience with communicating across multiple companies, as the project was direct work for an international customer. While this project was my primary focus during this rotation, I also assisted co-workers in other projects throughout the rotation as necessary. Second Rotation: The primary focus of this rotation was writing unittests in Python to increase code coverage of a lighting-control system. I worked diligently to improve the coverage to over 90% for all files included in the software. This helps engineers at Powercast to quickly identify issues with code changes, seeing the failure points. The tests also often provide insightful tips as to what can be changed to fix the particular failure. After these unittests were complete, I began adding backend support to the system in Python to support temperature, dew point, and humidity sensors that were going to be added to the system. While this project was my primary focus during this rotation, I also assisted co-workers in other projects throughout the rotation as necessary.
