I've done a lot of different things since I joined the workforce at age 14. I've managed a crew of up to 20 people on a production team for my hometown newspaper where we basically put the paper together every night and I did that for almost 8 years before moving to the press room for 2 years where I was the first female hired in a traditionally male job in that newspaper's history. I moved on to the Air Force Financial Services Center located at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota in 2008 where I paid millions of dollars in travel benefits to Guard, Active Duty, and family members of AD members. I was nominated for Top Contractor numerous times and was promoted to my team's, OCONUS Relocations, TDY (temporary duty) liaison. In that position, I communicated with the bases to help resolve travel pay issues for 2 different MAJCOMS (major commands). Specifically, USAFE (United States Air Force Europe) and PACAF (Pacific Air Forces), and thousands of AD personnel. In 2013, I went back to the newspaper to try my hand at being a District Manager. It was both rewarding and challenging. I suppose if I had to describe myself, it wouldn't be as a "girly" girl. My father was a diesel mechanic, among other things, and my first memories are of being with him in the shop, climbing all over the trucks (and up a huge shop door...my father almost fainted when he saw me up at the top of it) and the smell of diesel...I still love the smell of diesel to this day. I've spent most of my working life doing something related to machines...from the inserter we used at the newspaper, to working on a Headliner press, and helping my dad work on cars when I was little.I'm not afraid of new challenges and I look forward to all the challenges in my future
