I’m Jennifer Barner, founder of Lighthouse Ventures, a private equity real estate firm dedicated to helping investors achieve financial freedom and build lasting wealth. My real estate journey began in 2015, after 16 years as a stay-at-home mom, when I attended a Rich Dad class. I was thrilled to learn we could use our IRAs to invest in real estate. I joined the Rich Dad program to learn from others’ wisdom and avoid costly mistakes.Initially, our goals were to regain control over our finances and recover from the 2008 recession. I started with a single home, leveraging our IRA, and soon began flipping homes using a HELOC. One of the greatest benefits of the Rich Dad program was having a mentor to guide me.In my first year, I completed 11 transactions, including buy-and-holds, flips, lease options, and wholesales. Realizing I needed to scale, I hired a mentor in the multifamily space the following year. Since then, I have transitioned to multifamily investing full-time. I am now the General Partner on 1,168 doors across five states, predominantly in the Southeast. I implement business strategies upon acquisition and oversee management. Additionally, I have successfully rehabbed 45 properties and manage our single-family rental portfolio in Kansas City. Today, we’ve 6X'd our net worth, and I’m guiding others towards financial freedom. We are on our way to leaving a legacy for our children’s children, as Proverbs 13:22 encourages.My real estate journey started with a personal mission: to put all four of my kids through college debt-free—a goal I’m proud to have achieved. Today, I’m passionate about empowering others to reach their financial goals. Through one-on-one coaching and my podcast, "Mastering Money for Moms," I assist moms (and men) in managing their finances and building a legacy through real estate. Additionally, I help investors passively invest alongside us in our real estate opportunities to grow their wealth without the hassle of day-to-day management. By doing so, investors leverage our expertise while minimizing risk.Before becoming a full-time real estate investor, I worked in sales at IBM and Microsoft, managing complex software implementations. I also played a key role in launching several lifestyle and health companies. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Washburn University.When I’m not working, I enjoy reading, hiking, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.
