I discovered the archives profession after I’d spent the majority of my work life in customer service jobs. I love helping people, and especially enjoy when I engage with people and help them discover a new insight. When I started to explore the library and archive profession, I knew that it was a path to aligning many of my skills, interests and talents. I connect people to information and help to fulfill a more profound need.I have processed archival collections of various sizes. I’ve worked with paper documents, artifacts, multi-media and photographic - slides, photos, negatives – and digital materials. I’ve participated in digitization projects and have developed an oral history project. I have experience that ranges from accessioning collections to organizing and writing MARC records and original finding aids in EAD.I am interested in ensuring that cultural heritage materials are accessible and preserved. I am passionate about expanding access to archives by collaborating with records creators to capture a more well-rounded and inclusive portrait of a person, organization, or movement. By extension this can contribute to a more truthful record of the culture at large.I explore the roles art, fiction, design and the built environment have in creating the historical record.
