Independent construction/remodel and landscape designs including landscape design plantings and maintenance. Interior home remodel included built-in shelving, bookcases, desk, and cabinets. Owned and operated a green landscaping and cleaning company large scale landscape design and construction – flower bed construction, flower beds for HOAs. Managed five employees and received a 27 A rating on Angieslist for service and project completion. Sold company in 2011 when moving to Tennesse after a year and a half for a profit.

Owned and operated this engineering firm with full time project management engagements through 2008 and then provided concurrently with family responsibilities select engineering/project jobs as time allowed to include 2017. Engineering and consulting provided for large engineering companies including project management and design. Management included three direct reports. Responsibilities included the design and preparation of permit applications, engineering design and specifications, and construction inspection and reports. Services included testing and inspections during construction of various buildings, earthen structures, pavements. Worked remotely for several years while living in Oklahoma. Acted as a general contractor on a new home design and construction, an extensive remodel including adding square footage and land development and design for five townhouses on three critically sloped lots. Clients included Tetra Tech, Inca Engineers, Corps of Engineers, Canadian Consulate, building contractors and architects. Specific projects included Olmsted Dam Floating Navigational Walls, Port of Everett Expansion, Canadian Consulate Comprehensive Home Inspections for Diplomats, Letitia Townhouses, Orca Island Bulkheads, Magnolia House Beach Erosion Control, Holden House Construction, Kenny House Remodel, Garrison Column Replacement with Shoring, and multiple projects for Peter Swindley Architects and Ken Garrison Homes.

Assistant project manager/design engineer involved with up to trillion dollar projects from feasibility studies to completed construction working with government agencies on a daily basis with add-on services. Projects included landfills, reservoirs and earthen structures, groundwater monitoring wells, Phase I assessments, site characterization investigations (Phase II), remedial action designs, specifications and construction (Phase III), underground fuel storage tank assessments and removal. Other projects were stream remediation, hazardous waste cleanup, contaminated sediment removal and capping, erosion protection and slope stability, and marina dredging and construction. Clients included Department of Energy, Department of Defense, Navy, Corps of Engineers, and municipalities. Agencies worked with include Department of Ecology, EPA and Native American Tribes. Specific projects include Bremerton Naval Hospital Remediation, Thea Foss and Middle Waterway Sediment Remediation, Hylebos Waterway Superfund Cleanup, Commencement Bay Dredging, Savannah River Project-Tritium Accelerator, Vitrification Process (Hanford waste cleanup by encapsulating in glass and then steel), Wind Farm Permitting and design, and University of Washington Building Remediation. Assisted in manual creation and teaching dredging classes for the Corps of Engineers.

Provided certified QA/QC inspection and design engineering services for multi-million dollar projects including roads, earthwork, retaining walls, buildings, foundations, utilities, storm drainage, marinas, port facilities including docks, bulkheads, mooring dolphins, bridges, oil pipeline station retrofitting, and a passive oil recovery containment. Designed and inspected excavation retention systems such as soldier piles, sheet pile construction including cantilevered, tie back and open cell design. Experience included daily dispute resolution between contractors and owners within specific time and specifications. Performed concrete sampling and destructive and nondestructive testing, certified welding, bolting, and steel inspection, fill compaction and inspection, pier drilling and pile driving and inspection. Wrote daily reports, designed repairs or change of condition designs when necessary, supported the design and inspection of marinas, docks, forest bridges, and erosion protection. Produced feasibility studies for dredging and potential marina and dock construction. Provided site characterization and foundation design on various soils and rock. Clients included oil companies, state and local governments, forest service, railroads, mining companies, and private clients. Specific projects were Goldenview Covered Bridge, Chevron Open Cell Walls Passive Oil Containment, Red Dog Mine Heavy Use Bridges Inspection, Alyeska Pump Station Seismic Retrofitting from Fairbanks to Prudhoe, Skagway Railroad Dock, Wrangell Cruise Ship Dock, Tatitlek Ferry Dock and Airport and Cannery, Valdez Marina, Juneau Franklin Street Dock, Matanuska Forest Service Bridge, Seward Sealife Center building design and construction, and Anchorage Shoreline Trenching in 30 ft tidal zone to repair pipes.

Was selected to work as an intern to an engineering professor with job duties including testing model buildings and analyzing/reporting on how they withstood earthquake with varying configurations (foundations, water tank size/weight, etc.) The reporting included alternate configurations for enhanced ability to withstand earthquakes.
