Jennifer has spent her working life in social care, health and education. She is currently Deputy Chair of the Board of Governors of the University of West London and chair of LASA. She was a consulting director for SCIE (the Social Care Institute for Excellence and the National Skills Academy for Social Care where she was proud to be the lead judge for the WorldSkills competitions in health and social care. Jennifer has been chair of the IHM Examination Board, a member of City & Guilds Quality & Standards Committee and of the editorial board of the Journal of Practice Teaching and Learning. Her recent clients have included BAAF (the British Association for Adoption and Fostering) and the Internet Watch Foundation. Jennifer has mentored newly qualified social workers for The College of Social Work, black managers for the National Skills Academy, graduates on the Local Government Management Scheme, and others on request. She was also the agony aunt for Care Talk magazine. Jennifer has been a board member of CAFCASS, Child Poverty Action Group, WRVS, Social Care Association, the National Institute for Social Work and College of Social Work. She has had roles at director level for City & Guilds and the NSPCC. She was Chief Executive of CCETSW and Director of Social Services for Newcastle upon Tyne. She completed two demanding expeditions to the North and the South Poles in 2004 and 2007 respectively.Jennifer holds a CQSW and MA in Social Policy and Social Research. She is a Fellow of City and Guilds and was awarded an honorary Doctorate by the University of Winchester .
