Two cooperatives were merged in August of 2016 to create Sunrise Cooperative as of September 1, 2016. As an Agronomy Sales Advisor, I assisted growers in making the absolute best decision for their fields. I had many resources available that I utilized to help the customer grow in categories such as precision, new technologies, chemistry and nutrient stewardship. Taking the time to get to know each customer, their fields, and their management systems helped me place the correct seed varieties, fertilizers, etc. to a specific field for the best yield possible. I managed a customer list as well as continually visited prospects and made cold calls.

While at Legacy Farmers Co-op, I worked along side of customers to help them make the best agronomic decisions for their farm and operation. Fertilizer, fungicide, insecticide and herbicide recommendations were all included in my job. I also helped them decide which seed varieties would work the best on their soil types on each specific farm. Field scouting was one of the daily tasks during the growing season to make sure the plants were healthy and clean of weeds. While at Legacy, I learned to manage a customer base, cold call for new customers and grow prospects, all of which will help me grow my future in the agricultural industry.

I worked alongside the Mycogen Seeds sales reps and assisted in planting plots, organizing information, setting up field days, transferring and recording seed transfers and helping out the salesmen in any way possible. I was also able to spend some time with the agronomist when he went on field calls to look at problems that a farmer may have been having in his field. This experience helped show me what sales and customer service is really all about.

While working with Blanchard Valley Farmers Co-op (now known as Legacy Farmers Co-op), I worked at various branches. I assisted the Arlington Agronomy plant in the late spring delivering fertilizer, uploading customer fields into AgLogic and AgVantage. I also worked at the feed store where I learned about customer service, products we carry and organization. For wheat harvest I worked at the Mt. Blanchard grain elevator where I learned how to use the computer system, blending animal feed, grading wheat, weighing in and out grain trucks and re-organized the files. Finally, I worked in Fostoria where I learned about the grain market, futures, trading and how the markets are ran. All of these made me aware of all of the work that goes in to running a co-op and every part is crucial to the success.

Upper Sandusky, Oh

While interning at Kalmbach feeds, I learned to work alongside farmers, truck drivers and employees. I obtained my grain grading license and learned to properly grade grains that came in or went out as well as pellet feeds. Over the winter I went back to work and I worked on special projects. This included directly calling farms to see if they would be interested in contracting flax seed and trying to find producers of blood meal and their locations. This taught me organization, how to talk to strangers and create spreadsheets according to their interests.
