Waste Alternative Specialist
CurrentI'm happy to help you with any questions or concerns you might have about Alachua County's Solid Waste and Recovery operations. Proper recycling practices are essential to maintain a healthy environment and community, and I'm here to help you understand them better. My team and I give presentations and offer programs and facility tours of Leveda Brown, the county's transfer station. We want to increase awareness of which materials are recyclable and which are not, as well as provide solutions for disposing of unwanted items, find alternatives to landfill use, and develop strategies for waste reduction. My team and I coordinate and facilitate the donated inventory and operations of the Tools For Schools program, a collaboration between the Alachua County Waste Alternatives division of Solid Waste and Resource Recovery and the School Board of Alachua County. This program helps provide teachers with free supplies while diverting materials from the landfill, such as gently used tools, equipment, office and art supplies, paper, organizational items, decorations, and project materials.
