The Canadian Managed Alcohol Program Study (CMAPS) is a multi-site program of research that seeks to rigorously evaluate managed alcohol programs in Canada using participatory and mixed methods. CMAPS consists of numerous research studies, including a Pilot Intervention and an Evaluation of Cannabis Substitution as part of managed alcohol programs. The Provincial Safer Supply Evaluation (PSS) study is evaluating the ongoing implementation and outcomes of safer supply initiatives in BC, including both prescriber-based and grassroots-led models. Through a mix of outreach and consultation, surveys and interviews, and other study activities, we will together seek to answer questions about safer supply initiatives across BC, including what is being done, what is working well and what is not, and what else needs to be done. As a Research Manager, I work closely with the Principal Investigators and research coordinators to plan budgets, meet reporting requirements set by funders and ethics boards, manage human resources and payroll, and coordinate day-to-day functioning of the research programs, as well as supporting the development of future funding applications and peer-reviewed publications.

The Vancouver Island Drug Checking project offers a free and confidential drug checking program in Victoria. Our team uses multiple drug checking instruments to determine a sample's main active ingredients, fillers or cutting agents, any unexpected drugs, and the presence of fentanyl. We provide in-person services and results are given on the spot within 15-20 minutes.

As a Consultant within the Planning department at Island Health, I provided planning leadership, analysis, and engagement for specific strategic projects, working closely with portfolios and programs across the organization. These projects required planning and evaluation support, advice on crafting goals/outcomes/outputs, assistance with creating logic models and measurable targets, stakeholder matrices, or document writing.

Under the umbrella of CIHR's Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR), and as a member of the BC SUPPORT Unit, I worked with a multidisciplinary team to advance the voices of patients in healthcare research. As a Knowledge Broker, my role was to help research teams get healthcare evidence into practice. To do this, I worked with teams to understand who their target audience was, what evidence they wanted to disseminate, why the research was important to different stakeholders, and how best to communicate the results. Part of my role involved promoting SPOR to researchers, students, and healthcare professionals, and working with teams who were seeking funding to write grants to CIHR, Health Canada, MSHRF, and the Vancouver Foundation. I was also responsible for coordinating our annual SPOR student fellowships and facilitating region-wide SPOR research awards.

Project coordination and support, including but not limited to: writing of briefing and information notes for Executive staff (including ad hoc requests); data and trend analysis; jurisdictional scans and evidence syntheses; creation of graphs and charts; interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data; creation of infographics; preparation of materials for presentation at conferences; research into various aspects of the child welfare system, including consideration of Indigenous perspectives.
