I am always seeking ways to get poetry out to the larger community and to provide a platform for poets. I was thrilled when publisher Mike Stark asked me about contributing a monthly Poetry Corner column to Highland Park Neighbors magazine when it first started back in 2017. This is a volunteer assignment still I love knowing that people who might not ordinarily read poetry are getting a monthly dose AND I love shining a spotlight on the many poets of all ages in our community.

After the Continuing Education program at Township High School District 113 was dissolved, the Library graciously stepped forward to create a new venue for community classes with their "Library U." I facilitate both the Creative Writing Group and Memoir Writing classes. Beginning September 2016, I've added Poetry Writing classes, too.

Directly supports Mayor and City Manager. Special projects include editing The Highlander newsletter, special events applications, 4th of July parade applications, new resident packets, and downtown parking information.

Highland Park Poetry seeks to share poetry with audiences of all ages through writing workshops, poetry readings & open-mic events, printed displays, website and contests. HPP also creates opportunities for local writers to connect and share their work.
