I went to school to become a medical assistant in 2006 and graduated in the top of my class in 2008. I did my externship at a family practice and was offered a full-time job. I worked 2 years in family practice and wanted to learn more so I joined a cardiology practice. I worked there for 2 years, then the practice closed and I went to Liberty Cardiovascular Specialists. There I have worked as a medical assistant, helped to start their heart failure clinic, worked with the device clinic, and also worked as an in-patient coordinator. In my down time I assisted with data entry and coding of heart monitors. I found that I enjoyed doing this and studied for the AAPC CPC test and passed. I have found that I really enjoy my work as a CPC-A and enjoy learning the and adapting to the constant change in the coding world. I have been learning from some great mentors and have finally found my calling in the ever changing medical world.
