Theater in the ClassroomAfter performing in several Theater in Education productions and using drama games and activities to enrich the curriculum in the classroom, I am very passionate about continuing this work. I believe theater not only teaches self-confidence, good communication, and teamwork, but also makes difficult-to-understand concepts fun and more accessible.Storytelling for All AgesStorytelling helps us express emotions in new ways, explore talents and doubts, and relate to our peers and mentors. Through storytelling, we can learn, investigate, and share. Using writing and theater (especially devising), I am interested in starting storytelling skills at young ages and continuing work with this medium through adulthood.Special EducationThroughout my education and professional life, I have been a strong supporter of integration and focusing on the needs of individuals, not just the class. I have taught several classes for students on the Autism spectrum and am interested in continuing this work of using theater to teach empathy and communication. I am also interested in pursuing work in talented and gifted programs for all ages of students.
