I am a sociologist of biomedical technologies, health, and illness with over 20 years experience in qualitative research, scientific and lay writing, knowledge translation, and project management. I have received over $6 million in grant funding from the NIH, Canadian Institutes for Health Research, National Science Foundation, and Genome Canada. My work has been in the areas of reproductive and sexual health, genetic testing/precision medicine, fertility medicine, and rare disease research and patient advocacy. I take a ‘concept to end-user approach’ to new technologies, researching their ethics and impact from design through to user experience. I focus primarily on equity and access to technologies and the impacts of gender-based policies and innovations on people's lives.
