Experienced in Internal Medicine, Addiction Medicine, and Hepatitis C treatment, I am realigning goals and taking a part-time position in Urgent Care. My true love is helping those struggling with addiction. I provide methadone and buprenorphine management at Morse Clinic of Asheboro. As a clinical instructor at Duke University, I have the privilege of sharing my knowledge and experience with the next generation of nurses and nurse practitioners. I am passionate about mentoring and guiding students, helping them develop the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their careers. One of my proudest achievements is the establishment of the Healing Hands Medical Ministry in partnership with the First United Methodist Church. This initiative aims to provide free medical care to unsheltered individuals in Randolph County, NC. Through this program, we are able to offer essential healthcare services to those who may not have access to regular medical care, improving their overall quality of life.I am currently working on my PhD at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. My research will primarily focus on the qualitative exploration of the lived experiences of individuals who use drugs, particularly in rural areas, and their access to harm reduction services. I aim to gain a deep understanding of the barriers they face in accessing these services and the impact of policy on their accessibility. In addition to my research, I will also be working as a Research Assistant on the ANEW grant. This grant aims to increase the number of nurse practitioners who are prepared to provide primary care to underserved and rural communities, both within Guilford County and on a national scale. Through this role, I hope to contribute to the improvement of healthcare access and quality in these underserved areas.I serve on two local nonprofit boards, providing guidance and assistance with addiction treatment and harm reduction services. I believe every person matters, that addiction spares no one, and that with love, support, and evidence-based medicine, recovery is possible for everyone who chooses it. I also believe in harm reduction and giving a voice to people who use drugs in regard to their definition of and path to recovery.Let’s connect!
