I Dr. Jennifer Hedges is the CEO and President of Blue Nile Jewelry. From 2014-2017 i served as Senior Vice President at Plan International USA. Prior to joining Plan, i worked as a senior leader at DAI, one of the largest and most respected international development firms. Before joining DAI, i was the Deputy Country Representative and the Acting Country Representative for The Asia Foundation in Hanoi, Vietnam. I was the head of Democracy and Governance at World Learning in Washington, DC. I received two medals from the Government of Vietnam for my service in fostering the bilateral relationship. I was one of the first Democracy Fellows at USAID in 1997, working on the civil society team and providing field support to missions around the world. At the US Department of State, I served as Special Assistant to the Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs, covering the Democracy, Human Rights and Labor portfolio. I have previously served on the board of the Association for Women in Development and got it start as a development professional volunteering with an indigenous NGO in Sierra Leone where i supported their capacity building and marketing efforts.I am the author of NGOs and Civil Society Development: Democracy by Proxy? published by Polity Press in English, Chinese and Japanese.
