As a recent Magna Cum Laude graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Urban Studies: Community Development and Planning from the University of Washington Tacoma, I'm driven by a passion for utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to shape sustainable, vibrant communities.My journey began with a blend of academic learning and hands-on experience, which led me to the dynamic intersection of GIS and urban planning. It was during this time, while earning my GIS certificate alongside Urban Studies courses, that I uncovered the power of data-driven decision-making in urban development. A pivotal achievement emerged through my final project for the GIS certificate program, where I developed a Detached Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) capacity analysis dashboard tailored specifically to address the housing dilemma facing Eastham, MA. This project not only demonstrated my proficiency in translating intricate data into actionable insights but also showcased my ability to directly contribute to solutions for pressing community issues. This project was awarded second place in the 2024 WAGISA's Dick Thomas Awards and is currently being further developed in collaboration with a colleague from the University of Washington Tacoma.In my roles on UWT's Student Housing Advisory Committee, tending to the on-campus Giving Garden, and leading as Vice President of CIVITAS, my by a steadfast dedication to driving meaningful change is demonstrated. With internship experience at the Community Development and Planning Office for the town of Eastham, MA, I gained firsthand insight into urban planning processes and community engagement strategies. In my work identifying infill housing opportunities and GIS mapping for Pacific County, WA, through an internship with UW Livable Cities Year and the Pacific County Economic Development Council, I further developed these skills, both in GIS and professionally. Recognized for academic excellence with numerous awards and consistent placement on the honor roll, I maintained a 4.00 GPA in my Urban Studies classes and GIS certificate. My dedication to academic and practical pursuits underscores my commitment to excellence in urban studies and community development. Eager for growth, I'm currently self-teaching Python to bolster my analytical skills and enhance my proficiency in data manipulation and visualization. I look forward to leveraging my skills and experiences to contribute meaningfully to projects that help create vibrant, sustainable cities where people thrive.
