Leads policy development and engagement activities associated with First Nation elementary, secondary education, and early childhood education.Provides strategic policy advice to senior management on the departmental role on the Indigenous Early Learning and Childcare Framework.Co-chair, with the Assembly of First Nations, of the Early Childhood Education Task Team comprised of First Nations nominated representatives from across Canada and federal government officials.Supports policy development and engagement activities associated with Indigenous post-secondary education.Manages Branch research, measurement and evaluation investments and other activities that advance the Branch research agenda.Provides strategic liaison with other federal government departments, including ESDC and Health Canada.Manages a team of diverse and talented analysts and supports workplace learning, productivity and well being.Coordinates Education Policy input related to strategic planning, corporate reporting and governance.Represents the Branch at Director General level Senior Committees such as the Inuit Crown Partnernship Committee

• Coordinates civilian deployments in support of Canada’s response to natural disasters including advising on deployment options as part of the Interdepartmental Task Force and/or Interdepartmental Strategic Support Team which deploys immediately after a natural disaster.• Responds to international requests from United Nations or Multilateral organizations, for civilian technical support to areas such as security sector reform, early recovery, peace mediation, peace support operations, children affected by armed conflict, women, peace and security, transitional justice, countering violent extremism and other stabilization and reconstruction programming.• Leads the delivery of the civilian deployments function, including planning, co-ordinating and advising on impacts of related critical issues impacting deployments. • Monitors planned civilian deployment programming for compliance, and assesses the implementation against objectives and standards.• Coordinates deployment logistics with domestic and international partners and stakeholders, including negotiating on the duty of care requirements, establishing MOUs and providing strategic advice throughout the implementation to resolve any issues.• Coordinates preparations for personnel being deployed including orientation, training, and participation in military and multilateral exercises and arranges operational support related to return and reintegration.

• Provides liaison and co-ordination functions primarily to provincial and territorial jurisdictions and secondarily to international jurisdictions such as the United States, England, Australia, Ireland and New Zealand on intercountry adoption issues.• Works closely with provincial and territorial Central Authorities to provide them with information to make informed decisions such as a pan-Canadian response to child trafficking leading to the imposition of a suspension of adoption activity with a particular State of Origin for adopted children. • Works toward the elimination of obstacles to the application of the Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption, and deterrence of practices contrary to Convention objectives• Develops, researches, and advises on the development of legislation, regulations, policy, procedures, standards and guidelines relating to Canada’s Hague Convention obligations.• Collaborates with legal services, case management, international region and mission staff to research and problem-solve on high profile cases and situations.• Provides functional guidance pertaining to national interests in intercountry adoption.• Collaborates with federal departments (Department of Justice and the Global Affairs Canada) responsible for specific aspects of the intercountry adoption process.• Briefs senior management providing analysis related to high-profile, sensitive issues related to adoption.• Researches subject matter related to prevention of trafficking and sale of children, special needs children, domestic and international legislation pertaining to child welfare and adoption etc.
