I love working for myself. As a kid, you would have found me running lemonade stands, babysitting, or charging my family to eat at my "restaurant", located in our kitchen. Since then, I've been on an entrepreneurial journey!After gaining experience as a manager at Starbucks, in restaurants, and in office administrative work, I bought my first restaurant. The restaurant was in the small community of Wells, BC, operating seasonally with the heavy tourist traffic. My business partner and I ran it for four years. I learned a lot about business resiliency, having to adapt and pivot many times due to the effects of wildfires and Covid-19 on our tourism economy. We slowly transitioned the full service restaurant to a quick service cafe and food truck to better meet our community's needs.After that venture, I drove the food truck up to Prince George. I rebranded, selling fresh doughnuts, funnel cakes and churros at the Farmer's Market and at events. That same summer, I had an opportunity to lease a café space in a medical building, and I hopped on that. I transformed the little nook into a bustling coffee shop, baking fresh treats in the building every morning, and serving high quality handcrafted coffees, teas, and grab and go breakfasts and lunches.I've since sold the coffee shop, and am looking for the next step. I love the small business community in Prince George, and I want to encourage people to take the leap into owning their own business. I'm excited to see how that transitions into my next venture.
