  • Washington County Animal Services And The Bonnie Hays Animal Shelter
    Outreach & Events Coordinator
Washington County Animal Services And The Bonnie Hays Animal Shelter Feb 2012 - Nov 2014
    Washington County, Or
Initially hired for 16 hour per week temporary position. Responsible for project management/production of both the shelter's Animal Tales Newsletter, included conducting interviews, photography, writing articles, managing the creation of the mailing list data, and coordinating with graphic designer, printer, postage and other vendors and stakeholders for on-time and on-budget completion of the newsletter twice per year. Planned, marketed, and organized the animal shelter's events including Dogs on Parade and the Gingerbread Dog House Contest. Additional increasing communications, outreach, and donor management duties as assigned. My hours were temporarily increased though emergency funding to utilize my dog training and animal behavior expertise when a number of dogs were seized in a very public animal abuse case. I recruited, trained and managed a special team of volunteers for enrichment, training, and behavior modification for the dogs during the lengthy legal process. Eventually the perpetrators were convicted, the dogs became our property, and were adopted into loving forever homes. This led to creation of a new position so that all of the shelter's dogs could benefit from the training and enrichment program. I was the successful candidate and was promoted to the full time permanent position of Animal Behavior and Outreach Coordinator.
