I was the field lead and assisted with project management tasks for an SCE on-call contract for which I coordinated over 200 projects. I conducted over 100 pre-construction surveys and monitoring efforts for several species including Stephens’ kangaroo rat (Dipodomys stephensi), San Bernardino kangaroo rat (Dipodomys merriami), quino checkerspot butterfly (Euphydryas editha quino), arroyo toad (Anaxyrus californicus), California gnatcatcher (Polioptila californica), woodpecker (Picidae), burrowing owl (Athene cunicularia), nesting birds, spreading navarretia (Navaretia fossalis), San Jacinto Valley crownscale (Atriplex coronate), and Western dichondra (Dichondra occidentalis). As a consultant for SDG&E, I completed pre-activity surveys and associated reports. I also provided monitoring support throughout Camp Pendleton, including multiple training areas for sensitive plants, wildlife, vernal pools, and active bird nests. I am familiar with SDG&E’s Natural Community Conservation Plan (NCCP) and the species included. Prior to assisting with the SCE and SDGE contracts, I provided survey and monitoring support for PG&E in Napa county as part of their fire prevention efforts. I used visual and auditory clues to locate owls and re-sighted color bands to identify individuals. In addition to stand searches, I conducted call point surveys on forest roads independently and with a partner to determine Northern spotted owl and barred owl (Strix varia) residency.
