Biochemistry is a journal published through the American Chemical Society. The Editor-in-Chief and an Associate Editor are located on campus at Vanderbilt University. Biochemistry recorded an Impact Factor of 3.226 with 91242 total citations in 2010.Monitor and expedite the progress of the office's manuscripts through peer review, revision, and transfer to journal production to an external ACS office. Interact expediently and diplomatically with an international customer base of authors and reviewers, imparting an attitude of helpfulness and maintaining confidentiality. Be assertive and courteous with tardy reviewers. Maintain open dialog with ACS production office and in-office staff, including my assigned Associate Editor. Reflect the journal's commitment to professionalism, efficiency, and service. Additional related research and correspondence done upon request of Associate Editor. Cover the job responsibilities of other Biochemistry Editorial Assistants as needed (due to hiring changes, illness, maternity, etc.).

For two years I created a monthly News-You-Can-Use column with Editor Susan Day, covering Davidson/Rutherford/Williamson counties. Readership of approximately 80,000. The column won more than one "Parenting Publications of America" award; a travel piece I wrote on Kentucky Down Under also won an award. In a freelance capacity, I've done a variety of odd jobs for this publication -- writing articles on travel destinations, local restaurants, a few miscellaneous articles on assigned topics, and taking snapshots at local and magazine-sponsored events; the magazine has rights to these photos (I had each photography subject sign a proprietary release form). Over the years, my Nashville Parent business card listed a variety of titles as their go-to-person to cover wherever they were short-staffed.

Production Editor: Departmental head for proofreading/production training; run monthly meetings & minutes now supplementing procedural policies; develop/test innovative computerized tracking system; spearhead standardization of electronic production documents, implementing network security; create master database of correspondence documents & train staff on usage.Production Coordinator: Traffic journal articles from acceptance to printed issue; determine issue content, cost-effective art placement, & expedite deadlines for timely revenue collection; acknowledged for exemplary verbal/written communication with editors, authors, suppliers, & internal departments on procedures, quality of reproduction, cost estimates, & schedules.Proofreader: Proof/edit galleys, folioed pages, & cover materials for grammatical clarity, style, typography, & art quality; ensure quality via specifications.
