I am currently a first-year student studying a Bachelor of Pharmacy. The reason why I am undertaking this course is that it has always been a passion of mine to work in the health field as I have a strong interest in the discipline of science for chemistry and biology. Through this interest of mine, I aspire to become a hospital pharmacist. I believe that a hospital pharmacist plays a vital role within the hospital healthcare team as pharmacist’s expertise in knowing about medicines and also in clinical patient care. As a hospital pharmacist, there are several key transferrable skills required which I possess as some include cooperative learning, customer services, and data analysis alongside having the ability to use technical equipment. - Cooperative learning: Being apart of an event management team in the homeless connect organisation, I was able to collaboratively work with other team members as this enhanced my cooperative learning skills. - Customer service: Working at Chatime which is a bubble-tea store, I am required to serve customers on a daily basis. Through this, I am highly experienced in giving quality customer service as this will assist me when dealing with patients. - Data analysis and handling technical equipment: Pharmacists are required to compound for medicines when ready-made medications are not available. Thus, having a certificate III in laboratory skills will significantly support me for knowing how to use types of equipment for compounding drugs and also effectively analyse drug-based data. I strive to be passionate about my love for health-related learning.
