Hi! My name is Jennifer Mason -- I am a third-year undergraduate student at Syracuse University majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I am interested in many different areas of the tech field, with a particular fondness towards cameras and sound systems. I get to explore these areas as a user through my work at WJPZ radio as well as my photography and video classes taken in the Newhouse School of Public Communications. Working with this equipment has piqued my interest in working on the engineering of these technologies.I am the president of the Syracuse University chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). I am passionate about developing a strong community within the engineering department at the University. I want my peers to find a space in which there is open discussion and collaboration on topics both covered in class, as well as those for professional development and career advancement. I firmly believe that getting your foot into the industry starts through the connections you make on campus and I want to be a light to guide others through their undergraduate years. In addition to ASME, this past summer, I participated in Syracuse University's Invent@SU program in which my team and I developed a wheelchair locking mechanism for adapted vehicles. My team earned second place in the competition and we are working tirelessly to make this a functioning product to enhance many people's lives.
