As an analyst with 2M, I provided leadership, management, and research assistance on projects for several federal agencies including the U.S. Department of Education (ED), U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Consumer and Financial Projections Bureau (CFPB), Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals (OMHA), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This support included assistance with research study and evaluation design, survey and interview protocol development as well as data collection, analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, and writing and presenting reports. For example, I developed and facilitated webinar presentations, assembledan online toolkit and led conference planning for an annual meeting hosted by the U.S. Department of Education. I also managed report deliverables and led project staff who provide technical assistance to grantees. For CFPB and HUD, I was the lead author on literature review and exploratory studies andpresented findings to the clients. I supported the survey data analysis tasks and wrote several chapters of the annual report for OMHA to monitor the agency’s progress in serving the public. And I collaborated with the 2M team to identify and compile infrastructure and economic data measures and develop a methodology to assess resilience at the community level in two U.S. territories for NIST.

As an independent contractor, I conducted and synthesized research on a variety of topics in education for associations, school districts, and universities. My services included comprehensive literature reviews, research design, collection and analysis of data, as well as writing and presenting reports. I specialized in conducting practical research that informs policy and evaluates the effectiveness of educational programs.

As a Senior Director of Research with K12 Insight, I provided research and consulting services for a portfolio of school district clients. These services included developing surveys and focus group protocols on a wide variety of topics, analyzing survey and interview data using descriptive or inferential statistics and thematic coding, and overseeing reporting. This reporting encompassed designing, writing, and presenting the report findings to school district leaders and school boards. Other responsibilities included offering research, communications, and strategy-related expertise to senior leadership in school districts.

As the Director of Research at the Center on Education Policy (CEP), I led research study design, data collection, analysis, and writing related to federal, state, and local education policy initiatives. More specifically, I was responsible for the design, administration, and analysis of nationally representative surveys, program evaluations, as well as case study research projects. I collaborated with colleagues to collect and analyze data from school, district, and state-level interviews with educators, classroom observations, and school visits across the United States to write case studies for CEP reports and publications. These and other reports are listed in the publications section of my LinkedIn profile. I presented research at CEP events and other national conferences, as well as spoke with national and local press, policymakers, and other interested parties about CEP’s work. Below is a link to a radio interview broadcasted on KUOW, a founding member of National Public Radio. Finally, I assisted in interviewing, mentoring, and collaborating with fellow researchers and undergraduate and graduate-level interns on CEP studies.

At Educational Research Service, I conducted literature reviews on various K-12 topics ranging from grade configuration and high school transition programs to the No Child Left Behind Act. Drawing from this secondary research, I authored or co-authored more than 30 research summary articles and books for ERS series publications, including The Informed Educator Series, Focus On Series, and What We Know About Series. I served as the project manager for assigned publications and collaborated with ERS colleagues to draft grant proposals.

I also attended AFT organizing subcommittee meetings and drafted formal reports of meeting discussions to be distributed for further analysis and review among its members.
