Conducted research on polycystic ovarian syndrome patient communities and fertility preservation for cancer survivors in low-resource settings on the Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology research team at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD).

Built natural language processing models to classify epidemiology publications on rare diseases at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences at NIH. Reviewed resources on health literacy for rare diseases. Wrote a research paper that was accepted into a bioinformatics conference. Presented research to the Office of Rare Disease Research at NIH. One of 70 Civic Digital Fellows, selected from 900 applicants.

Supported the processing of placenta and cord blood samples for an NIH study on preeclampsia in the Winn Lab.

Invited by the Coursera staff to be a mentor for Andrew Ng's Deep Learning and Neural Networks because of my performance in the course. Mentors play a vital role in the Coursera community by supporting learners who need in-course assistance and feedback to successfully complete a course. As a Mentor, I help other learners come closer to reaching their goals.

Researched AI regulation and wrote policy memo "Resolving the Transparency-Trade Secrecy Conflict in AI Systems." Presented recommendations to Congresswoman Anna Eshoo through the Student Advisory Board.

Helped to design the curriculum for the Technovation Challenge, teaching CS & entrepreneurship to tens of thousands of students through the world's largest technology entrepreneurship competition for girls. Produced YouTube tutorials that have received >500,000 views. Taught MIT App Inventor tutorials at Technovation workshops and at Hoover Middle School. Used Python, Jupyter Notebook, Pandas, and matplotlib to analyze data from the tens of thousands of participants. Maintained the website to expand access to Technovation's global audience using Wordpress and HTML.

Summer 2017: Research assistant in the Ackman Lab in the Department of Neuroscience at UC Santa Cruz. Studied machine learning and computer vision techniques to develop maps of functional regions of the developing mouse brain. Numpy, opencv, matplotlib, and scikit-learn.Summer 2016: Research assistant in the Li Lab at UC Santa Cruz. Developed a method to decrease the gradual deterioration of supercapcitor electrodes over time. Built the electrodes and analyzed data through cyclic voltammetry, chronopotentiometry, and impedance graphs. Created software for automated data analysis.

Founded Loc8Don8, an app and 501(c)(3) nonprofit that simplifies the process of finding donation locations. Loc8Don8 is available to download on the Google Play Store and iOS App Store. It has been featured in Forbes, the San Jose Mercury News, the Battery Ventures blog, KQED, and more. We were awarded $10,000 from the Technovation Challenge for placing as the #1 team internationally.
