I’m a pharmacist from a long line of pharmacists. While my community pharmacy roots run deep, I also have a vast array of pharmacy setting experiences. I have found no matter the setting, I always get a genuine rush from helping someone maximize the healthcare system to their benefit. I am also the primary caregiver for my elderly parents. I always thought I knew the scope of the healthcare system, so I was stunned by the complexity that has to be navigated by patients who can be sick or debilitated. I take those experiences to work with me, taking an empathetic, hands on role in encouraging patients and caregivers to start from a place of knowledge about their condition and to assume an active role in managing their disease state with medication and non-pharmacological interventions. I seek ways to build value for pharmacological services with patients and providers as the drug expert, working as part of a team to improve patient outcomes. It truly is why I do what I do; to expand the role of pharmacists as an accessible bridge in the healthcare system.
