- Worked as a research assistant directly under Dr. Melissa Halpern Ph.D. at the Steele Children's ResearchCenter.- Multicenter research- Goal to identify risk factors for the development of necrotizing enterocolitis in the very premature infants.- I collected informed consent, conducted laboratory test, and data analysis on premature infant's fecal samples.-Research is currently ongoing.- Poster, oral presentation, and manuscript expected by December 2018.

- One of 22 students selected- 6 weeks of one-on-one training and instruction in the field of pediatrics during the summer between years 1 and 2 of medical school.- I learned to perform circumcisions, age-appropriate history and physical exams, as well as write a SOAP note.- Completed 24 weeks of rural rotations during third-year clerkships.

-Literature review the evolution of medical school curriculum and how the increasing number of nontraditionaladult learners has impacted modern curriculum models.-IRB approved survey evaluating the effectiveness of active learning methods used in the current curriculum.- My role involved study design, procedure development, materials acquisition, IRB application and approval,responsible conduct of human research, data analysis, and manuscript preparation for submission.

- Worked for three weeks in the family health, maternity clinics & pediatric ward of the state hospital.- Due to a large number of pediatric patients suffering from rheumatic heart disease, I implemented an updated pediatric crash cart. Additionally, I identified & assisted in coordinating the international transfer and treatment of 14 critically ill children, who required urgent/emergent heart surgery, to medical centers in Hawaii and the Philippines.- Took the lead in establishing infection control protocol during a conference to establish nationwide antibiotic guidelines.- Spent three weeks with the Federal States of Micronesia Public Health Department, conducting the direct observation treatment program for tuberculosis & leprosy patients.- Collected epidemiology data for a flu outbreak to be used for preventative education and flu control measures.- Conducted CPR training for hospital staff and the general public.

- My role was to guide students through sample problems as well as homework questions in such a way thatpromotes critical thinking, active learning, information commitment to long-term memory, and build confidence.- Also responsible for training new hires, Level I, and II tutors.

- We conducted a computerized assessment to compare the impact of standard, stereoscopic, and high-definitionlaparoscopic monitor displays on surgical technique.- My role included project design, informed consent, data collection, and analysis.- The associated poster was presented at the April 2010 Physiology Poster Session.
