I am directly responsible for the audit and review of all accounts that have been denied or written off for Methodist Healthcare System in San Antonio. In addition to auditing, I provide education and process improvements to decrease/eliminate denials and write offs for the San Antonio Division. My role also includes ongoing education to facility staff as well as physicians in relation to LCD/NCD requirements for compliant billing. I present results and opportunities to facility CFO's and VP's to implement change, this includes developing action plans and worksheets to assist staff and physicians with documentation requirements to reduce billing denials and write offs. My feedback is shared with our contract negotiating staff for introduction of possible contract changes. I present a Compliance grid and a Billing Alert grid to each Facility Ethics and Compliance Committee as part of maintaining a compliant billing process.

I review all Novitas NCD/LCD's and provide education to Department Directors, CFO's and VP's to ensure compliant documentation by facility staff and physicians. Responsibilities included audits to verify compliance with CMS guidelines and presenting Compliance education and a billing alert log to all Facility Ethics and Compliance Committees.

In this position I was directly responsible for the staff who processed all billing alerts for Methodist Healthcare System. This team also maintained all facility charge masters to include yearly updates based on CMS guidelines and provided education related to appopriate use of CPT codes and charges. I conducted audits and provided education related to all CMS billing guidelines. I regularly presented these findings along with other matters directly to facility CFO's and VP's.
