Jennifer was born in Crows Nest, grew up in Brisbane and travelled widely before moving to Toowoomba to work at USQ. She has always made Art and given away, exhibited and sold her creations over many years. After careers in science, education and publishing she completed a Diploma of Visual Art in 2008. Arts Council Toowoomba’s first Avant Garden stretched her to produce public art and she works in any medium that helps carry the idea she is trying to communicate in her work. She worked to develop and deliver community arts projects including Splashing back and ACT Waterways.Her arts practice is informed by passions, often about social justice. She explores her settler ancestors and their relationship with the first people of Toowoomba and adjacent areas. She does this with assemblage, weaving, ceramics, painting, video and narrative artist books.She believes that compassion beats a judgemental attitude every time. She exhibits for Downlands and the EcoSciences exhibitions about Lake Broadwater near Dalby and the need for healthy soil. She coordinated a 60 m @GCCulture Wall in central Toowoomba early in 2017 and is working on another public art project for Arts Council Toowoomba.Her first solo exhibition at Crows Nest Gallery in October 2018 explored art healing grief and loss.
