Jennifer Tallon is the Director of Research-Practice Strategies at the Center for Justice Innovation. During her time at the Center, she has been the lead researcher on several mixed-methods studies examining diverse topics including fines and fees, prosecutorial decision making, neighborhood-based probation, diversion, violence prevention, and community policing. Dr. Tallon has also provided consulting support to jurisdictions across the country through the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s Justice for All initiative, Arnold Ventures’ Advancing Pretrial Policy and Research, and the MacArthur Foundation’s Safety and Justice Challenge. Dr. Tallon has over a decade of grant writing experience and has secured funding from federal and state government as well as private philanthropies to support original research and consulting projects. In her prior role as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Dowling College, she regularly taught courses in research methods and statistics for undergraduates. This experience still serves her to this day in translating complex topics for different audiences to demystify research and meet people where they are. Dr. Tallon holds a PhD in Psychology from the Graduate Center at the City University of New York. During her graduate work, she conducted laboratory-based research on jury decision making using a social-cognitive framework. While pursuing her BA and MA in Forensic Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, she served as a data analyst on the groundbreaking national survey commissioned by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops to document the nature and scope of child sexual abuse in the church since the 1960s.
