Served as an ambulatory staff nurse and telephone triage nurse for the Medical Center’s outpatient Neurology Department Initial job duties entailed telephone triage for neurology patients with conditions which included Multiple Sclerosis, Seizure Disorders, Parkinson’s disease and Lou Gehrig’s disease. However, my job duties eventually transitioned somewhat in that I coordinated a multi-disciplinary clinic for Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS). I served as the primary point person for caring for these terminal patients in their ever-changing medical condition.

Served as staff RN in a brain injury rehabilitation unit. Patient population included strokes, aneurysms, brain tumors, MVA and drug intoxications resulting in injuries. Carefully assessed the 6rain injured patient and tended to their special needs while acting as a patient advocate. Anticipated medical complications while ensuring their safety secondary to their disinhibitions. Played an important role in the interdisciplinary care of the patient and followed through with the recommendations of the tam. Worked closely with families while teaching and supporting them In accepting the changes to occur with their loved ones after their brain injury. Attended seminars on effective leadership skills, conflict resolution, effective communication, personality typing and attended conferences related to the brain injured patient
