Commercial Markets includes sub-business units Construction, Middle Market Commercial, Energy Casualty, and Environmental as well as part of Programs (Group Captives and Segmented Programs). This analysis is semi-annual, and is the basis for strategic decisions by senior management. Financial Plan and Monthly Forecast: support the planning and forecasting process by providing loss ratio direction and RBRM estimates. Reporting: responsible for monthly rate monitoring, large loss reports, frequency tools, and miscellaneous data extracts.Account Tiering: segment Commercial Markets accounts into quartiles that differentiate the level of profitability. This allows the business to vary rate and retention strategies effectively.Actual vs. Target (AvT): maintain the AvT tool that projects ultimate loss ratios at the policy level, allowing underwriting management to look for areas of growth or rate need. This tool uses data and parameters from the Profitability Review.Main achievements: The Actuarial team in North American Commercial went through a major reorganization in February 2010. Not a single member of my team had ever worked on a Profitability Review prior to 2010, but we managed to take on this enormous task, and we completed it accurately and on time.I was the actuarial Subject Matter Expert in the design of a new planning tool. The intention is to implement the tool in 2011 within North American Commercial, and to roll out the tool to the rest of General Insurance over the following years.
