Provided support on monitoring, evaluation and research for IntraHealth projects in Ethiopia, Mali, Namibia, Senegal, South Sudan and Zambia. Projects are in the domains of family planning; HIV prevention, care and treatment; maternal child health; biosurveillance; health systems strengthening, particularly human resources for health. Prepared monitoring, evaluation and research plans for a variety of proposals for diverse donors, including USAID, CDC, DfID, and private foundations.

Kigali, Rwanda

Led the establishment of and directed FHI 360/Rwanda’s Research Team. Managed and oversaw all aspects of funded evaluation and implementation science studies with a combined budget of approximately $5,000,000 per year. Represented FHI 360 in relations with USAID, the MOH, and other development partners and at national Technical Working Groups, conferences, and meetings. Served on FHI 360/Rwanda’s senior leadership team. Key accomplishments include:• Provided analyses that influenced Ministry of Health decision-making, such as piloting a program improving targeting of most-at-risk-populations for HIV in Kigali and strengthening the PMTCT program• Instrumental in positioning FHI 360/Rwanda as a technical leader in sexual and reproductive health, maternal and child health, research, and evidence-based programming through active involvement in the Government of Rwanda Technical Working Groups• Played a key technical role in developing a proposal on testing HIV prevention approaches leading to a $5 million CDC/PEPFAR award to FHI 360/Rwanda • Advanced diversification of financing by obtaining additional funding from USAID/Rwanda, CDC, UNFPA • In 48 months, the Research Team of eight full-time staff designed, received approval for, and completed fieldwork for over 15 evaluations and operations research studies

Design, conduct and analyse research projects for the Research to Practice Initiative, including operations research projects on re-introducing the IUD in Kenya and India, a private sector provider’s training program in Nigeria and a programmatic assessment for integrating family planning and HIV counselling and testing services. Monitor and evaluate projects and assist in project design, for example an integration project with the Nigerian Uniformed Services and a process evaluation of introducing two best practices into the family planning program in Madagascar.

Kinshasa, Democratic Republic Of Congo

Responsible for a research project to test the efficacy of a behavioural intervention and integrate syndromic management of sexually transmitted infections into two military camps in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.

Designed, monitored and implemented management information systems for nation-wide organization. Analyzed service statistics and prepared reports on program operations for internal staff members and external donors. Developed computerized data collection tools. Supervised and trained MIS Officer Trainee in creating and maintaining management information systems and report writing. Trained field staff in the reporting formats, including service statistics and quarterly reporting.

Designed, implemented and presented quality assurance studies on Department of Mental Health to organisation-wide Quality Council. Created and maintained a ten-facility information system used by over 200 mental health staff. Analysed trends in clinic usage data and prepared recommendations for improvement and future growth.
