Education Program Specialist
Acts as the Office of Special Education Program’s primary liaison to assigned States implementing all aspects of Results Driven Accountability: (1) Prepares approaches to address State issues with varying levels of support from staff and leadership (2) Within established timelines, thoroughly reviews and analyzes SPPs/APRs, grant applications, SSIPs, and other State documents for assigned States consistent with established processes and expectations, and prepares responsive documentation within established timelines, that is clear, concise, factually and legally accurate, grammatically correct consistent with established writing conventions, and with few technical errors. Routine documents typically do not need more than one improvement cycle; (3) Coordinates and communicates TA and guidance that is accurate and responsive to the needs of internal and external customers. TA and guidance is clear in oral and written communications and products to States, parents and external customers; (4) Using OSEP’s framework for differentiated monitoring and support to States, delivers TA and support, and conducts monitoring at the universal, targeted and intensive levels over the course of the fiscal year. Maintains updated documentation of monitoring and support; (5) Supports customer service specialist in responding to customer inquiries, and facilitates information sharing and learning to enhance OSEP’s customer service to States; (6) Responds to requests for information from internal and external customers within one business day; and (7) Conducts strategic activities designed to expand the Division’s knowledge base and build OSEP’s capacity through the provision of timely, clear, legally sufficient, research-based information or guidance related to the area of regarding dispute resolution under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
