Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Pathogen Genomics Project - African PGIJuly 2021 - October 2025Working with the African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) and Africa CDC on developing a Quality Assurance framework for Genomics labs starting with those part of the African Pathogen Genomics Initiative. Also working on external quality assessment programs for Pathogen Genomics initially focusing on SARS-COV 2. Responsibilities:Writing the quality assurance framework for genomics laboratories, sourcing third party EQA for genomics, developing a genomics EQA program with samples production and informatics system, and selecting a training a provider for the EQA program. Fleming Fund AMR Project - EQuAfricaJune 2020 - March 2022Working with the African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM), Africa CDC, Public Health England and the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) South Africa on establishing external quality assessment providers across the human and animal sectors to improve reporting of antimicrobial resistance across sub-Saharan Africa. Responsibilities:Informatics system assessments, recommendations for informatics, developing requirements for software enhancements.Developing and implementing business plans with 2 organizations in West Africa, 1 organization in East Africa and 1 organization in South Africa to help create sustainable external quality assessment programs to serve antimicrobial susceptibility testing laboratories throughout Africa.
