Formerly leading on the Care Campus project, I am now applying the learning from this project to the looking to new projects at the Crichton and beyond. The Care Campus project worked with communities and stakeholders to explore 'would make Dumfries and Galloway the best place to grow old'. I'm now leading on the development of a number of exciting, innovative projects that link academic thinking with local needs and aspirations to find and test new ways of working and solutions to help us make the most of the longevity revolution. we want everyone to be able to live longer, more connected, healthier and happier lives no matter what age they are. We work collaboratively with key stakeholders and communities to look at how we can work find, test and develop a solution to our rural wellbeing challenges. I work closely with colleagues at the University of Glasgow and the Open University, local communities, statutory services, voluntary organisations, housing and care providers, and local businesses and tech startups to find practical and sustainable and innovative solutions for rural and semirural communities.

One of the first board members for this new charity supporting young people with ASD and associated conditions to transition from school into fulfilling their dreams and aspirations. Worked with by fellow board members to develop an valued based organisation. With a strategy and approach that works alongside young people and helped them find fulling and meaningful futures in training, volunteering and employment. As an organisation we also conducted research into specialist housing options and needs around for young people and adults ASD and Learning disabilities in the region.

The Dumfries and Galloway Wellness and Recovery College is a local initiative based and hosted in the UWS's School of Nursing and Midwifery. It delivers a range of wellness and recovery focussed learning and development opportunities. Courses will provide students with a range of learning opportunities, these may include: Learning skills and strategies to cope with challenging times, for example in relation to change and loss, Strengthening personal coping skills, Developing and maintaining positive relationships, Helping to understand personal responses to situations.The college and courses are co-produced and co-delivered by peer trainers with lived experience working with trainers from the NHS, UWS, Third sector organizations and other bodies. My role is to manage and develop the college, ensuring it stays true to its values and is a sustainable service offering best practice and evidence-based services for the people of Dumfries and Galloway.
