I perform carpentry repair services on a continual contract basis with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Providence. Specifically for their Aging in Place program, Habitat home assessors will visit low-income seniors who are 65+, and who could use help with small home repairs, accessibly improvements that would help prevent trips and falls, and increase their mobility around their homes. I define and communicate the job scope to Habitat as well as the seniors, procure the needed materials, and complete the work within 3-5 days. Past jobs include exterior railing repair and installation, grab bar installation in bathrooms, hallways, stairways, basement steps fabrication, tile repair, ceiling repair, wall repair, concrete steps repair, painting, lever door swaps, wireless lighting install, GFCI outlets install, etc. This work has been very fulfilling and provided me insight into common struggles faced by aging seniors. Each household is different, and I have enjoyed the process of winning the homeowner's trust and injecting some positive energy into their lives, with the hope that they feel more capable of the upkeep and maintenance of their homes going forward.
