The Western Cancer Centre Foundation was established to support the development and activities of the newly established $35million cancer centre at the Dubbo Hospital precinct, specifically to support the provision of patient care and quality of life services for people from across the western region of NSW.

Uluru/Mutitjulu - Northern Territory, Australia

At the invitation of the Uluru family, this community development project has been completed for the family, funded by the Department of Communications and the Arts, and facilitated through Not-for-Profit organisation Kungka Kutjara Aboriginal Corporation (KKAC) to research, record and document the history, recollections and stories of the Tjamus (Grandfathers) Uluru and the Uluru family.
The final product (book, and all audio & visual documentation) remains the property of the Uluru family, with all proceeds to be reinvested into the maintenance of culture and language. Copyright remains with the Uluru family. The project is an important historical record both for the Uluru family and the Anangu, but also for all Australians.

An illustrated children's book developed as a resource for the National Association for Loss and Grief (NALAG) - aimed at helping children (and adults) who are struggling with loss and grief through bereavement.
Developed with the support of the Rotary Clubs of Dubbo and Coonabarabran - all proceeds from the book go directly to NALAG to help support the work they do with people who are struggling with loss and grief.
First published in 2015 - now towards the end of its second print run, Grandpa's Hat has helped thousands of children and their families - along with many adults - to navigate the difficult and sometimes life-changing experience of loss and grief, in many of its forms.

On the evening of February 28, 1872, a handful of citizens from the newly proclaimed municipality of Dubbo gathered at Orbell’s Royal Hotel and voted unanimously to form the North Western Pastoral and Agricultural Association. The following year, the very first Dubbo Show was held at the town’s racecourse.
One hundred and fifty years on, that humble showcase of agricultural and pastoral produce has evolved to be one of the largest shows in regional NSW, and the most important continuous event on the city’s calendar. From a purely agrarian focus to one of community, entertainment and education, through good times and bad, through shifting demographics and attitudes, the show’s history in many ways reflects that of Dubbo and the region itself since European settlement.
This is the story of the Dubbo Show and of the people who brought it to its sesquicentenary.
From the founding fathers to those who hold the reins today, the story is one of commitment, spirit and sheer determination.
This book is not just a recollection of the past, but a celebration of the present and an invitation to the future of those special Three Days in May.

I’m very honoured to have been entrusted with this project, and I know there’s a responsibility that comes with telling the story of arguably Dubbo’s most significant, and certainly most iconic event and, more accurately, the organisation that has held the reins of that event for a century and a half. • The book is not intended to be a comprehensive chronological record. Instead, I’m essentially letting the people who have populated the Dubbo Show Society’s history tell the story. It’s their recollections, and those of their families and friends and associates, that make the history come alive - all stitched together with tidbits of history and key moments in the Show Society’s century and a half.

That’s the Spirit is a project prompted by but not about drought – borne of a need for an injection of positivity in sometimes overwhelmingly negative times. The project, funded in part by the NSW Department of Health, and in part by NALAG itself, is about giving voice to just a small sample of the many positive people doing positive things to keep small communities alive and kicking, as they’ve done and will do for generations.
It’s about that indefinable thing we call “the spirit of the bush”.
We hope you enjoy meeting these people from a diverse cross-section of our western communities as much as we enjoy helping tell their stories.

Launched in December 2017, MY TIME: Through Breast Cancer & Beyond is the memoir of well known regional breast cancer awareness campaigner Donna Falconer, written by Jen Cowley from interviews with Donna and others. The book has been described as “the gift that keeps giving”, with ALL proceeds directed in equal part to The McGrath Foundation and Breast Cancer Network Australia. The book was published thanks to community support, including from the combined Rotary Clubs of Dubbo and the Dubbo RSL, and gives a humorous but sensitive and insightful glimpse into the breast cancer experience and has been described by readers as “a bloody good read” and “a must for anyone whether you’ve had breast cancer or not”.
