I have always loved solving puzzles. The satisfaction of seeing a pattern, finding the relevant pieces, and determining the final location, are all as good as the solve itself. Professionally, I am happiest when surrounded by people who know more than me and that push me to grow and learn. By nature I am curious, and when paired with my determination to master new things, it allows me to learn, fast. I worked for a small family run business, which taught me countless lessons that have been adaptable in every role I’ve had since. First, to think outside the box, and write your own playbook when approaching all types of situations. Second, to be comfortable operating outside your comfort zone, from interacting with customers in a second language, to learning everything about plants and produce, it’s a valuable skill. Finally, the intangible value of a positive work environment, the power of operating as a team and being there to help anyone who needs it. All of these skills served me well when moving on to a big, but unique business. The small business mindset has empowered me to look at processes and say, “there’s a better way to do this”, instead of “this is how we’ve always done it”. My drive to follow what I am passionate about has taken me from a degree in Physics and Chemistry, to a specialty in locally grown produce and plants, to an expertise in food for remote northern indigenous communities. I am known as a continuous improvement leader, tenacious about doing the right thing. I am always looking for new challenges to continue to push me to grow!
