Candidate For Elected Office

Candidate For Ohio State Senate

Cleveland/Akron, Ohio Area

With very little money and a team of committed volunteers, ran my own campaign as a candidate in the May 2006 primary for Ohio State Senate District 23, attaining 8,529 votes (29% of the total) against the incumbent.According to the "Cleveland Plain Dealer" Newspaper:"Although not winning the endorsement, 25-year-old Frigolette is praised as "bright," "affable" and having "a real passion for public service." She has a B.A. in Political Science from Oberlin College and has been active in numerous political causes. According to her campaign website, she was a Coordinator in the recount of the 2004 presidential vote, a Field Organizer for MoveOn PAC's "Leave No Voter Behind" Campaign, and a Field Manager for Working America (a community affiliate of the AFL-CIO). She lists a variety of reasons for running including opposing one party rule in Columbus, improving the flawed system for counting votes, and to be a "role model to young people who think that they are too young to participate."Other press regarding the campaign:"I am happy that... Jen Frigolette in Senate District 23 made such a decent showing against intrenched pol Dale Miller who was appointed to the seat a few months ago (he was formerly a state rep) when the incumbent got another job. She too had few resources other than a group of enthusiastic friends. I hope she sticks around and stays involved; we need young, eager people like her (she graduated from Oberlin two years ago)"
