With over 25 years of experience in higher education, I am a dedicated Dean of Advising, Planning & Experiential Learning at The College of Wooster with a passion for helping students develop academically, professionally, and personally. I oversee the daily operations of APEX, a dynamic hub that invites all Wooster students to integrate their classroom experiences with experiential learning opportunities, such as off-campus studies, internships, entrepreneurial activities, career networking and development, and academic support programming. I foster a system of collaborative advising and mentoring, wherein the directors of all six areas of APEX provide integrated services. Additionally I partner with the Provost, Admissions, Development, and Student Affairs.I have a strong background in academic affairs, having served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Assistant Academic Dean at Thiel College. I have successfully implemented student learning outcomes assessment (for curricular and co-curricular programs), promoted a culture of assessment, and worked with regional accreditors. I have also managed dual enrollment contracts, articulation agreements, student/faculty grievances, and academic dishonesty appeals. Additionally, I have developed and directed the First Year Experience program, the orientation program for new faculty, and various faculty development initiatives. As a professor of cognitive and positive psychology, I have expertise in curricular/program design, learning, pedagogy, student success, and academic advising.
