About Jennifer Hambrick
Jennifer Hambrick is a Midday Announcer, Classical 101 | radio and multimedia producer | cultural journalist at WOSU Public Media. She possess expertise in radio, editing, blogging, broadcast, storytelling and 42 more skills. Colleagues describe her as "My association with Jennifer Hambrick began when she joined the Columbus Children’s Choir Board of Trustees in September 2019. I serve as the Artistic Director of the organization and have interacted with her on several different committees. During the time I have known Jennifer, I have been extremely impressed with her knowledge, professionalism, and willingness to give freely of her time for the betterment of Columbus Children’s Choir. Jennifer is the consummate professional. Every interaction has shown her to be thoughtful, creative, well informed and passionate about her work. Jennifer’s success is heavily influenced by her extensive background as a musician and as an award-winning poet. Columbus Children’s Choir has been very honored to have Jennifer cover many aspects of the organization, from my receiving the Organization of American Kodaly Educator’s (OAKE) Outstanding Educator Award to producing the Christmas special O Clap Your Hands: Christmas with the Columbus Children’s Choir for broadcast on Classical 101. Jennifer is a detail oriented person. She does her homework and is always well versed and prepared. Prior to my interview, she made it a point to educate herself on the work of OAKE and the details of my award. Because she had done her homework, she was able to find a unique angle for her story and accurately cover every detail of my career through her questioning. Jennifer’s relaxed demeanor, positive personality and warm interpersonal skill as an interviewer helped to calm my nerves and turned a stressful experience into a very pleasant one. I have also had the pleasure of experiencing Jennifer’s creative talent and musical knowledge when she produced a Christmas special featuring my children’s choir. I was amazed with how she was able to take approximately a dozen virtually unrelated musical selections and weave them together into a seamless hour-long special. Her eloquent words coupled with historical background of each piece created a very enjoyable and engaging experience for the listener. Jennifer is a dedicated interviewer, creative radio host, consummate musician, and valuable board member. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Jennifer and highly recommend her. She would be an asset to any organization utilizing her talents." and "It is my sincere pleasure to offer an enthusiastic recommendation for Jennifer Hambrick, award-winning poet, distinguished vocal performer, respected arts advocate, and celebrated radio producer and announcer with WOSU Public Media in Columbus, Ohio. Serving as Artistic Director of LancasterChorale, Central Ohio’s professional chamber choir, I have invited Jennifer to collaborate with the ensemble on several public performances. In 2018, as the world was commemorating the 100th anniversary of the end of World War 1, I determined that LancasterChorale would prepare a program that combined choral music with the reading of poetry and letters by authors contemporary to the time. Knowing of Jennifer’s well-known professional voice and expertise as a poet, I was eager to enlist her as poetic consultant and narrator for this project. Jennifer’s superb knowledge of the literature, as well as her advice on how to shape a compelling story of those who fought and died in the war, proved to be not only keen assets to a rewarding collaboration within the public forum, but also the cementing of a personal, professional friendship. And her delivery as narrator, accompanied by the humming of choral music by LancasterChorale, brought the audience (and I daresay several performers) to tears. LancasterChorale welcomes the attention Jennifer brings to the organization through her programming of the ensemble’s performances on WOSU Public Media broadcasts. In December of 2020 when little or no live choral singing was being offered publicly due to the international pandemic, Jennifer took the initiative to produce a broadcast of tracks from LancasterChorale’s 2019 An English Cathedral Christmas performances. She did likewise with recorded material of other ensembles. In so doing, Jennifer served as an invaluable advocate for musical arts organizations local to Central Ohio, allowing the public to be refreshed by the sound of choral music during a time of global crisis. Because of Jennifer’s consummate professionalism, sensitivity, and taste, I find myself phoning her when questions require thoughtful and confidential consideration. Jennifer consistently has something to add to the conversation which improves my own perception of the matter at hand - all offered with her signature grace, warmth, and wit. Jennifer Hambrick’s skill, artistry, expertise, and charm have most certainly become indispensable assets to the arts community in Ohio. She helps the public to hear, understand, and appreciate music, poetry, and complex artistic concepts in new ways. I enjoy every project on which we collaborate, and I look forward to the next time we work together to bring a performance to the public. "
